Haha that’s because push-button start (“keyless go,” in M-B parlance) was an option, realized in the simplest way imaginable. If you have it, you get two keys and the button, the bottom of which is shaped like the end of the key. The button just plugs in where the key would go and stays there. If you don’t have the option, you just get the two keys.
